If you’ve found your way here, something within you may be asking for a space to be seen, heard, or simply felt. You’ve taken an important step, and I am so glad you’re here.
My name is Angela Coleman, and I am a Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) offering both in-person and virtual sessions. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York, and I am a South Brooklyn native. My passion for mental wellness began early in life and has continued to deepen through both my academic training and my own appreciation for the transformative power of therapy.
I believe that life is an ongoing process of experimentation—of learning, unlearning, and becoming. In my view, much of healing comes through trial and error, through noticing what no longer fits, and gently discovering what does.
In our work together, I will walk alongside you as we begin to explore the parts of yourself that may have been stored away, as well as the parts that are still emerging as you grow and navigate life. We will move through this process together, creating space to untangle thoughts, shed light on emotions, and turn our attention toward the areas of your life that feel most present.
My intention is to offer a space where you can show up as you are each week, whether this is your first experience with therapy or you are returning to your journey of self-discovery. I recognize the courage it takes to enter this kind of work, and I hold that with care.
Because no two people experience life in the same way, I take an integrative approach to therapy that honors your unique story. Drawing from psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and narrative therapy, we can explore the experiences that have shaped you, make sense of the patterns that no longer serve you, and begin writing a chapter that makes room for what’s possible.
We provide compassionate support through individual, couples, and family therapy, helping you explore emotions, strengthen relationships, and build tools for lasting growth.
"The quality of staff at New Leaf is superb. I would describe their attitude as excellence. At a struggle point in my career and family life, the guidance I received at New Leaf was nothing short of a miracle. If anyone has mental health needs to be taken care of, they would be lucky to be served by New Leaf."
“I was nervous about starting therapy again after a difficult past experience, but New Leaf made the process simple and welcoming. From the first call, they helped me understand my insurance options and matched me with a therapist who truly listens. For the first time, I feel like I’m making real progress—learning to manage my anxiety and set boundaries. Their culturally responsive approach made me feel seen and valued.”
"If you’re looking for a network of therapists who are empathic, flexible and knowledgable, this is the place to go! 10/10!"
“Finding a therapist in NYC felt overwhelming until I found New Leaf. The team was caring and responsive, and I appreciated how flexible they were with scheduling. My partner and I started couples therapy here, and it’s completely changed the way we communicate. We’ve built trust again and feel more connected than ever. Having a diverse team that understands different perspectives made a huge difference in our experience.”
