Hi, I’m Janet! I am a clinical intern at Brooklyn College working toward licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), with a Master’s in School Psychology. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families, offering compassionate, trauma-informed support rooted in an understanding of human development.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing begins with connection: to ourselves, others, and in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, trusting space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported. As a bilingual therapist (English/Spanish), I am committed to cultural humility and honoring each client’s unique background, values, and lived experiences.
My approach is person-centered and collaborative, integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices to meet clients where they are. Together, we focus not only on coping with life’s challenges, but also on building tools for resilience, self-awareness, and growth. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, disability-related challenges, or simply seeking deeper self-understanding, I am here to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and care.
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new foods, exercising, and curling up with a good book! I also find so much joy in traveling, musical theater, and treating myself with the little things! I believe in practicing the same self-care, curiosity, and authenticity that I encourage in my clients- whether that means going to the gym, trying a new restaurant, or belting out show tunes from my favorite musicals.
We provide compassionate support through individual, couples, and family therapy, helping you explore emotions, strengthen relationships, and build tools for lasting growth.

At a struggle point in my career and family life, the guidance I received at New Leaf was nothing short of a miracle. If anyone has mental health needs to be taken care of, they would be lucky to be served by New Leaf."
“I was nervous about starting therapy again after a difficult past experience, but New Leaf made the process simple and welcoming. From the first call, they helped me understand my insurance options and matched me with a therapist who truly listens. For the first time, I feel like I’m making real progress—learning to manage my anxiety and set boundaries. Their culturally responsive approach made me feel seen and valued.”
"If you’re looking for a network of therapists who are empathic, flexible and knowledgable, this is the place to go! 10/10!"
“Finding a therapist in NYC felt overwhelming until I found New Leaf. The team was caring and responsive, and I appreciated how flexible they were with scheduling. My partner and I started couples therapy here, and it’s completely changed the way we communicate. We’ve built trust again and feel more connected than ever. Having a diverse team that understands different perspectives made a huge difference in our experience.”
